---- — Pauline Karcher, 86, of East Peoria and formerly of McLeansboro, passed away 12:35 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born Feb. 18, 1927, in Crook Township in Hamilton County, the daughter of Hugh Dolan and Agnes Mitchell Dolan. She married Gilbert “Jimmie” Karcher on Nov. 25, 1948, in St. Patricks Catholic Church in Enfield, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2009.
She was a homemaker and member of St. John Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis and St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of McLeansboro, St. Elizabeth Altar Society of Piopolis and the Hamilton County Home Extension. She loved to sew and visiting and participating in numerous events with her close friends.
She is survived by two sons, Kevin Karcher and wife Beth of Washington and Kent Karcher and wife Debbie of Washington; two daughters, Karen Kinker and husband Jeff of Olney, Md. and Karla Kovarik and husband Doug of Naperville; nine grandchildren, Erin and Alicia Karcher of Rockville, Md., Nicholas Karcher and wife Amanda of Metamora, Dana Kinker of New York City, Katelyn Kinker of Chicago, Kacy Karcher of Lisle, Jill Karcher of Washington, and Kyle and Anna Kovarik of Naperville; three great-grandchildren, Koby, Easton and Owen Karcher; and one sister, Monica Frey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Hugh R. Dolan; sisters, Maureen Savage and Clarene Dolan; and her foster brother, John Sauer.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis with Father Jim Sauer and Father Slawomir Ptak officiating. Burial will be at St. John Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Piopolis.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to St. John Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis, St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria or the local chapter of Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
