---- — Shirley Ann Watson, 80, of Momence and Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of Mt. Vernon and Centralia, passed away Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Riverside Hospital in Kankakee.
Shirley was born on Aug. 16, 1932, in her parent’s home in Buckner. She was the daughter of Walker and Catherine Cutty. She is survived by her son, Nick Watson and granddaughter, Elizabeth Watson. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and by her husband, James R. “Bob” Watson.
Shirley’s first job was with the Midwest Dairy of Christopher. Subsequently she worked for Sullivan Cable Television of Mt. Vernon, sold real estate and also worked for the Illinois Indiana Cable Television Association. She lived in Mt Vernon from 1960 to 1974. Then she moved to Centralia from 1974 to 1998. She resigned from that position to care for her invalid mother in 1985. Shirley enjoyed cooking, gardening and traveling.
Shirley was cremated and a graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 20, at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating.
