Betty Jean Mack, 75, of South Bend, Ind., and a former resident Mt. Vernon, said her final goodbyes at 1 a.m. on Saturday, May 3 2014, at her home.
She was born March 6, 1939, to James Earl Smith and Mary Lee Fletcher (and stepfather Dossie Fletcher) in Olmsted. She married Willie Mack and he preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1979.
Mrs. Mack is survived by one son, Tommie K. Smith; four daughters, Carlette Daniels and husband David, Crystal (Henry Wills) Mack, Mashanta Young and husband Anthony and Marietta "Kaye" Hood and husband Calvin; two brothers, Fred Hicks and wife Diane and Kenneth Fletcher and wife Kwajalyn; two sisters, Valadi Harbor and husband Robert and Beverly Fletcher; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Robert Harold Doby and Dorsey Fletcher Jr.; aunt, Minnie Henderson; two daughters, Carolyn Yvonne and Kaye Yvonne Tolbert, two grandsons, Dallondas Tolbert and Kyle Hood; and one great-granddaughter, Im'Unique Anderson.
She was a member of the Faith Apostolic of South Bend, Ind., followed by the leadership of Bishop Eddie L. and Diana Miller and Lively Stone Apostolic Church of Mt. Vernon.
She was loved by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Betty Mack will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Lively Stone Apostolic Church, 1700 Oakland Avenue, Mt. Vernon, with Elder Allen E. Rudd, Sr. officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
