John Edward Page, Sr., 71, of Mt. Vernon, died 3:32 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at his home in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Saturday, March 7, 1942, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Augusta M. Page.
John served our country in the United States Army and worked as a welder for Custom Welding which was a job he enjoyed immensely. He was involved with western entertainment in his younger years and was a major advocate for the Shriners.
He is survived by three daughters, Laura A. Riley of Belle Rive, Lisa M. May and husband Delbert of Bluford and Mary E. Page and fiance Steve Lyons of Mt. Vernon; one son, James Edward Page of Arizona; four stepsons, Clyde Clifton and wife Karen of Flint, Mich., William Clifton and wife Lanette of North Carolina, Jeffrey Clifton and wife Rebecca of North Carolina and Samuel Clifton and wife Angela of Phoenix; stepdaughter, Juanita Clifton of Flint, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John E. Page, Jr.; one grandson, Donald Earl Duncan, Jr.; special companion, Rose Harris; one uncle, Roy Edward Page; and good friend, Charles “Butch” Lyons.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Gary Davenport officiating. In honor of John’s wishes, he will be cremated following the funeral service.
Visitation will be held from 5 until the time of service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
