---- — Nila Joyce (Wells) Walker, 76, passed away April 1, 2013, in her home in Meridian, Idaho, surrounded by friends and family.
Nila was born Feb. 11, 1937, to Leonard and Hazel Wells in Mt. Vernon. She loved the movies and her first job was in the concession stand in the theater in Mt. Vernon. She married Willis “Bill” Walker on May 28, 1955, and they lived together in Missouri, Texas, Wyoming and Colorado before settling down in Billings, Mont., with their two children.
Together they enjoyed many successes. Bill went into business for himself in the petroleum industry and together they were able to split their time between their home in Billings and a winter residence in Oceanside, Calif.
When time for retirement came they sold the California home and purchased a motor home. They were able to fulfill their lifelong dream of traveling the country and following the Sprint Car Racing circuit. Nila and Bill were married for 55 years before he passed away in 2010.
Nila loved traveling, car races and her poodles. With many lifelong friends, she also possessed an uncanny ability to make new friends wherever she went – the doctor’s office, the grocery store, pharmacy – people were drawn to her. She possessed great wisdom, and you could always go to her for advice. Nila loved her family and she loved them unconditionally.
Nila is survived by her son Bruce (Becki); Dianne (Ray); and six grandchildren, Erica, Brent, John, Dominick (Chelsea), Emily (Jeremy) and Leanna; as well as six great-grandchildren.
