---- — Evelyn May Hall, 96, of Mt. Vernon, died 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Friday, Nov. 9, 1917, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Elikham Hamblin “Ike” and Mary (Cruzen) Weatherford. She married William Vacie Hall on June 23, 1937, in St. Charles, Mo., and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1974.
Evelyn was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Fifteen times during her lifetime, there were five generations of her family living.
She is survived by three sons, Larry Hall and wife Pat of Kell, Bill Hall and wife Debbie of Mt. Vernon and John Hall of Mt. Vernon; six daughters, Mary Powell of Mt. Vernon, Carolyn Sue Sinks and husband Fred of Augusta, Ga., Betty Ann Webb and husband Don of Mt. Vernon, Janet Kay Kash and husband Charles of Symsonia, Ky., Bonna Dean Clarke and husband Steve of Mt. Vernon and Linda Fay Hall of Mt. Vernon; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Rebecca Jo Piper and Norma Lieras; four sisters, Mable Violet Weatherford, Edna Faye Hoffman, Margarite Katherine Hutchcraft and Lillie Maude Meadows; and four brothers, the Rev. Olen Claude Weatherford, Glenn Pearl Weatherford, Clifford Max Weatherford and Samuel Emerson Weatherford.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. David Schlag and Mr. Gary Chesney officiating. Interment will be at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
