---- — Robert L. Shuster, 79, of McLeansboro, passed away 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in McLeansboro.
He was born Feb. 1, 1934, in McLeansboro, the son of W.E. “Ed” Shuster and Virginia (Wilson) Shuster. He married Betty Ann Bethel on Jan. 20, 1955, at First Baptist Church in McLeansboro.
He was retired from Brown Shoe Co. in St. Louis. He was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church in McLeansboro. He was a past commander of American Legion Post 784, Cahokia, past president of St. Louis Credit Association, St. Louis, past Hamilton Memorial Hospital board member, member of American Legion post 106, McLeansboro and member of Elks Lodge 1882, McLeansboro. After retirement, he worked as a van driver for Harre Hamilton County Ambulance. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956.
He is survived by wife, Betty Ann Shuster; daughter, Lisa Ann Rheinecker and husband Steven of St. Louis; grandson, Braden Rheinecker of St. Louis; and granddaughter, Brooke Rheinecker of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Bill Reed officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 106, McLeansboro.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Memorials may be made to 1st Presbyterian Church of McLeansboro or Hamilton Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, McLeansboro and will be accepted at the funeral home.
