Emma Ruth Pennington, 77, of McLeansboro, died 2:25 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at McLeansboro Health Care & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 4, 1936, in Mound City, the daughter of Ernest T. and Sarah (Rogers) Pruett. She married Charles Eugene Pennington Aug. 16, 1969; he preceded her in death.
She is survived by three nieces, Tammy Denham of McLeansboro, Joyce Hamilton of Broughton and Vicki Bivens of Little Rock, Ark.; three nephews, David Essary of Broughton, Russell Essary of Broughton and Ernest Pruett Jr. of Murphysboro, Tenn.; several great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great-newphews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Ernest Pruett and Henry Pruett; and three sisters, Alice Pruett, Sara Pruett and Mary Essary.
She was a home maker and attended the Church of God.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. David May officiating. Interment will be at Hickory Hill Cemetery near Broughton.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
