---- — Carl E. Thompson, Jr., age 75, died June 3, 2013, at his home in Mt. Vernon.

Carl was born Aug. 16, 1937, in Mt. Vernon, a son of Carl E. Thompson, Sr. and Pauline (Whittington) Thompson. He married Jeannine (Malcolm) and she survives in Watseka.

He served his country in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne Infantry Division. He was a crane operator for Precession National Railway in Mt. Vernon for many years and later drove a cab.

Carl is survived by his wife, Jeannine A. Thompson of Watseka; son, Bryan Thompson of Watseka; sister, Becky and husband Ronald Marcum of Mt. Vernon; and also a brother, Ronald Ray Thompson and wife Ruth Ann of Granite City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
