---- — Howard Benjamin Bullock, 97, of Sun City West, Ariz., passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013.
Howard was born Dec. 18, 1915, to Earl and Nina (Edwards) Bullock. He was raised in Mt. Vernon and graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in 1933. Howard attended Benjamin Franklin University (now known as George Washington University) where he received BCS (1948) and MCS Degrees (1949). He was a licensed certified public accountant in the state of Virginia.
He married Betty Maurine Hasely on Oct. 16, 1948. They had two sons.
Howard served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a civilian in various staff capacities in the Office of the Chief Signal Officer in the Pentagon and retired in 1972 as senior civilian advisor to the Director of Plans and Programs, Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Communications-Electronics.
Since his retirement, Howard was active in farm management in the midwest and commercial real estate development, particularly the development, management and operation of the Mt. Vernon Centre. Howard was also an active ham radio amateur since 1932.
He is survived by son William Paul Bullock (wife Diane) of Ames, Iowa, and son James Howard Bullock (wife Denise) of Mechanicsville, Va.; and two grandchildren.
His parents and his wife, Betty Bullock, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Camino del Sol Funeral Home in Sun City West, Ariz.
