Clarence Delbert McBride, age 81, of Opdyke, died 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013, at his home in Opdyke.
Clarence was born Jan. 25, 1932, in St. Louis, a son of Ralph and Hazel (Askew) McBride. He married Mina Velva Etta (Filberth) on Dec. 10, 1950, in Mt. Vernon and she survives in Opdyke.
Mr. McBride worked for General Radiator for twenty three years then later drove a school bus for Beck Bus in Mt. Vernon. Clarence served his country in the United States Army serving in Korea.
Clarence is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Mina McBride of Opdyke; two daughters, Jacqueline and husband Mark Harper of Mt. Vernon and Deborah McBride of Mt. Vernon; one grandson, Joseph Joslin and fiancé Erica of Mt. Vernon; one brother-in-law, Harry Filberth and wife Trudy of Michigan; several nieces and nephews; and a special dog, Sally.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melvin McBride; and two sisters, Roberta Mitchell and Beverly Vest.
Graveside funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Woodlawn with Elder Warren J. LaFlamme officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon. Friends and neighbors are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Friday.
