Lois Jeanette Winkleman Durkey, 72, of Mt. Vernon, died at 5:35 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at her home.
She was born July 8, 1941, in Pensacola, Fla., a daughter of Robert Lee and Lillie Belle (Hall) Nall. She was first married to Danny Ray Winkleman. She married William Edward “Bill” Durkey in June 1981 in Harco, and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2003.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis Winkleman of Mt. Vernon and Todd Winkleman and wife Tammy of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Cindy Bruce and husband Robert of Mt. Vernon and Debbie Field and husband Chris of Carrier Mills; grandchildren, Rhea Eva Winkleman, Daniel Winkleman, Brandi McCain and husband Dustin, Sydney Winkleman, Dawsen Winkleman, Casey Gustavison and husband Zach, Cody Basiano and husband Steve, Heidi Goss and husband Jim, Kristin Betz and husband B.J., Derek Field and wife Rachel; great-granddaughter, Cadie Goss; brother, Tommy Nall and wife Ethel of Pensacola, Fla.; sister, Janice Barnett and husband Charlie of Bay Minette, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Marcus Nall.
Lois was a homemaker and a member of Camp Ground Baptist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Dan Lovin and the Rev. Benton Fitzjerrells officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Hospice of the Good Samaritan and to Camp Ground Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
