Frank L. “Hank” Karcher, 78, of R#1 Dahlgren, died 3:46 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at his home.
He was born April 17, 1935, in Dahlgren, the son of Frank Ludwig and Evelyn (Stich) Karcher. He married Marilyn Cross and she survives.
He was a retired calendar let off operator with General Tire Co. in Mt. Vernon. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Reggie (Wesley) Warren of Dahlgren and Jodie (Jim) Harris of Dahlgren; siblings, Kenneth (wife Ruth) Karcher of Dahlgren and Marilyn Davis of Dahlgren; four grandchildren, Brittani (husband Chad) Valentine, Jarret Warren, Tyler Warren and Amanda (husband Doug) Atkinson; and two great-grandchildren, Ellie Valentine and Evan Atkinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Don Karcher.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren with the Deacon Archie Bowers conducting the mass. Interment will be at St. Johns Cemetery in Dahlgren with graveside military rites by the McLeansboro American Legion Post 106.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren.
