Shirley Jane (Hatchett) Strickland, 75, of Nashville, died 6:16 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Tuesday, Aug. 16, 1938, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of John Wesley and Stella Mae (Arnold) Hatchett.
Shirley worked as a certified psychiatric technician for the state hospital in Norwalk, Calif. She was of the Christian faith and was an avid Elvis Presley fan.
She is survived by her son, Todd Strickland of Nashville; three granddaughters, Brittney, Megan Jane and Jade; two sisters, Joyce Hall of Mt. Vernon and Betty Hatchett Keller and husband Chuck of Valier; brother, Douglas Hatchett of Mt. Carmel; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Bebe Hatchett; and three brothers, John Donald Hatchett, Jerry Hatchett and Allen Hatchett.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Ray Conley officiating. In honor of Shirley’s wishes, she will be cremated following services.
Visitation will be held from 5 until the time of service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
