Enid Faye Kennedy, 54, of Mt. Vernon, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born Tuesday, April 14, 1959, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of Gale Maxwell and Beverly Elaine (Neal) Galloway.
She is survived by her mother, Beverly Walker of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Jason L. Kennedy of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Phillip J. Kennedy and wife Jacqueline of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Sarah K. Kennedy of Elizabethtown, Ky.; three grandchildren, Patrick Kenndy of Elizabethtown, Ky., James C. Kennedy of Mt. Vernon and Joshua A. Kennedy of Mt. Vernon; five sisters, Elaine Boester and husband Robert of Centralia, Elizabeth “Libby” James and husband Robert of Mt. Vernon, Emily Stacey of Broken Arrow, Okla., Esther Watkins and husband Gary of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Erin Casteel of Tulsa, Okla; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Enid worked for Mt. Vernon Township High School as an aide in the special education department. She volunteered for many organizations including, but not limited to Angels Cove/Cove Connection, Lifeboat Alliance, Women at the Well and Special Olympics. Enid was a member of Grace Community Church in Mt. Vernon.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. today at Grace Community Church in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Jason Newell officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
