Zelma Hale

---- — Zelma I. Hale, 91, longtime resident of Fairfield, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 at Way-Fair Nursing Home in Fairfield.

Zelma was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Opdyke, the daughter of Orley and Nellie (Harris) Melton. She married John Hale in 1941, and moved to Fairfield in 1958. She worked at Fairfield Memorial Hospital for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John N., son John O., daughter Zelma (Fran) Stinson, grandson John Robert Hale, great -granddaughter Ashley Brooke Dudley, and sister Ermily Devine.

She is survived by sons: James Hale and wife Sheila of Mt. Vernon, Charles Hale and wife Sharon of Mt. Vernon; daughter-in-law, Judy Hale of West Linn, Ore.; son-in- law, Earl “Andy” Stinson of Hudson, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; 10 great- great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Wanda Tullis.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Malcolm Jones officiating and burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
