Lowell Leon Clifton, 77, of Wayne City, died 12 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at his home with his family by his side in Wayne City.
He was born Friday, Aug. 23, 1935, in Marion County, son of Doy and Media (Dickey) Clifton. He married Shirley Holleman on March 17, 1956, in Centralia.
Lowell worked as a carman welder for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad from 1956 until retiring in 1997. He was a member of Orchardville Community Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Clifton of Wayne City; daughters, Diane Goellner and husband Allen of Flora and Chris Barnard and husband Kent of Evansville, Ind.; brothers, Lonnie Clifton and wife Cecil of Elberfeld, Ind. and Dennis Clifton and wife Janet of Carlyle; sister, Ferva Lowry and husband Gilbert of Centralia; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and great-granddaughter, Rebecca.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Orchardville Community Church in Orchardville with Mr. Mark Shell officiating. Interment will be at Jacob Chapel Cemetery in Orchardville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Orchardville Community Church in Orchardville.
