Our View: Enough already with the rain

If it seems as though it rains every day in Southern Illinois of late, well, it has. Last week’s daily dose of the wet stuff propelled Illinois to a tie for its sixth wettest April on record, an average of 6.2 inches throughout the state.

The April rainfall reported by the Illinois State Water Survey is two inches above the normal average and ties with 1983 as the state’s sixth wettest fourth month of a year.

Around here, we pulled our weight late in the month with rainfall last week threatening flash floods heading into the month of May.

Here’s hoping for those May flowers now.
