According to the annual report of the Jefferson County Development Corporation, in the course of the last year, more than 33 inquiries from new business have come through the office, with the largest portion, 33 percent of those inquiries, coming from the industrial industry.
As many companies and developers wait on the Interstates 57/64 overpass/interchange project, luring industry to the area will be important. The industrial sector has traditionally brought high paying, quality jobs with good benefits.
The retail and services industries are important to the area, and retaining the businesses already here is imperative for future growth. Industrial and warehousing jobs will play a factor in the development of Jefferson County and the entire region.
