The Bluford Ruritans are working to keep its doors open and its organization alive.
Lack of members and funds is forcing the community service organization to struggle just to pay the bills and maintain its building, which is used extensively by other organizations such as youth groups and scouting, not to mention the community itself for birthdays, anniversaries and family gatherings.
The Bluford Ruritans aren’t alone in its search for people who are willing to give of their time to volunteer. Being a member of any service organization is a commitment, and time is of a premium. Families who have children not only spend time on the job, but take children to events and activities. There are so many constraints on our time that it’s difficult to fit everything into our schedule.
But taking time to make a commitment and work with others to make the community better is an investment. An investment not only in our own quality of life, but in the quality of life for our children and future generations.
