Our View: A peek at the past at historical village

— The Jefferson County Historical Village will host the community this weekend as it continues one of its signature events. The annual Heritage Festival features games, entertainment and tours, as well as other glimpses of days gone by.
If you have not been to the village in a while, take this opportunity to visit and re-acquaint yourself with one of the area’s off-the-beaten-path treasures. There will be music, an old-fashioned spelling bee, tours of the historic Old Union Cemetery and a service in the Mt. Olive log church.
This weekend offers a reminder that a peek at our past is always available at the historical village. We thank the countless volunteers who help organize and orchestrate the annual Heritage Festival.
