Our View: Local children can speak with Santa

Wes Plummer’s connection with Santa Claus has remained solid over the last year, so much in fact that the Mt. Vernon Parks and Recreation Department — of which Plummer is Recreation Coordinator for the city — will again serve as a link between Ol’ Saint Nick and local children.

In addition to having a mailbox for Santa set up at the Parks and Recreation office in the Rolland Lewis Community Building at Veterans Park, those within the departments are accepting names of children who may receive a telephone call from Santa himself. Forms are available at the park office for children under the age of 8 to receive the calls.

Mt. Vernon is fortunate to maintain this connection with the North Pole at such a busy time of the year. We encourage those with children under the age of 8 to take advantage of this opportunity.
