What is going on with our county board chairman, Mr. White? He is now acting like a typical politician by talking out of both sides of his mouth.
At last Monday’s board meeting, he announced to those in attendance that he was opposed to any new county taxes. The statement contradicts his support of the Public Safety Sales Tax that the board approved to be placed on the March 18 ballot for voter approval.
If his latest utterance is genuine, he must be opposed to the very item his appointed courthouse renovation committee recommended to the board for approval. What a travesty. For political reasons, he is now undercutting the very committee he appointed to study the issue.
For him to now oppose any new taxes is a little disingenuous. It is he who controls the county board agenda. It is he who did not support county board members Jim Laird and Jeremy Hall’s pay as you go plan for renovation. It was he who sought out the consulting firm M360 and gave them $75,000 contract to tell the board what renovations were needed and it was he who placed the Public Safety Sales Tax referendum to raise $7,662,000 on the ballot for voter approval.
An old American Indian saying describes the county board chairman very well — “White man speak with forked tongue.”
Must I say any more?
