Honor well deserved

The Register-News

---- — Editor:

A well deserved honor was recently bestowed on a good man.

Mr. Clyde Nadolski was honored with a Korean Peace Medal. His service was more than 60 years ago, but his memories are still fresh. He related the memory of his helmet rolling down a Korean hillside after he was wounded in battle.

But, it isn’t Mr. Nadolski’s heroic actions during the Korean War that I want to recognize. It is his service to the community as a school board member at Bethel School in Jefferson County.

A school administrator could not ask for a more dedicated individual to serve on the Board of Education. Mr. Nadolski was supportive, interested, inquisitive and insistent on quality decisions. I would personally list him among the best, and I’ve known many. I would also like to rank Clyde as a friend.

I can understand why there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience at the 1948-51 high school reunio, when he received his medal. I had a tear in my eye when I read the article.

Clyde Nadolski has always been unassuming and not inclined to boast or brag, but I will brag for him.

He received well-deserved recognition, and as my wife’s friend so often says, “That’s a good thing.”
