Casey boys, girls compete in state track meet

INA — Casey Middle School competed in the Class L state track and field meet Monday at Rend Lake College to finish the season.
The girls' meet was won by O'Fallon with 92, while Casey took 11th with 16.
For the boys, Herrin was the winner with 57, with Casey picking up 27.5 points for eighth.
Malesha Meredith won the discus for the girls with a toss of 87 feet, 4 1/2 inches. Aailyah Palmer placed third in the shot put with a toss of 29 feet, 5 1/2 inches.
For the boys, the 4x400 team of Travis Mitchell, Clayton Tinsley, Troy Miller, and Andrew Panega won in a time of 3:53.3.
The 4x200 team finished fourth at 1:42.23, while the 4x200 seventh grade team took seventh with a time of 1:48.82.
In the 400, Troy Miller was third with a time of 56.57 and Andrew Panega was 10th at 59.60.
Collin Young was ninth in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 5:20.83, while Panega placed eighth in the high jump.
In the seventh grade 100 meter dash, Michael Jefferson was sixth at 12:69, while Travis Mitchell took eighth with a time of 12:70.
