MT. VERNON — Mt. Vernon’s 18-and-under junior tennis team defeated Salem 20-3 on Monday to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Blake Jennings, Dan Chambliss and Tyler McLane won three matches apiece for Mt. Vernon. Jennings won in boys singles (6-0), boys doubles with Tyler Knox (6-2) and in mixed doubles with Kylie Pickel (6-4).
Chambliss won in boys singles (6-0), with McLane in boys doubles (6-1) and in mixed doubles with Ally Adcock (6-1).
McLane also won in boys doubles with Skylar Marlow (6-4) and in mixed doubles with Abbey Gober (6-1).
Peter Walker and Anthony Hallam won in singles and doubles for Mt. Vernon.
Shelby Timm, Gober and Adcock won three matches apiece for the Mt. Vernon girls. Timm won her singles match (6-2), in girls doubles with Pickel (6-2) and in mixed doubles with Marlow (6-1).
Gober won her singles match (7-5), her doubles match with Adcock (6-4) and her mixed doubles match.
Adcock also won her singles match (6-2) while Jeanette Straeter won her singles match (7-5).
Both Mt. Vernon’s 14-and-under and 18-and-under teams host Lawrenceville 1 p.m. today at Veterans Park.
