Broncos advance at regional

The Jefferson County Sports Authority travel Bronco baseball team defeated Murphysboro 17-2 in five innings on Tuesday in the second round of regional tournament play.

Trevor Flota had three hits and pitched the first three innings to earn the mound victory for Mt. Vernon, while Chase McGill and Ty Henderson each added a home run and a single.

Jayson Hapeman and Jacob Williamson both finished with two singles apiece, while Josh Flotaand Thomas Weber doubled.

Sawyer Harrison, Brock Fulkerson, Dave Modert, Seth Felty and Jake Pike all added a single apiece in the win.

The Broncos were to play Marion on Wednesday.
