Mustangs move to finals

MURPHYSBORO — The Cartec Auto Body Jefferson County Sports Authority travel Mustang baseball team held off Murphysboro 8-6 Wednesday in the semifinals of the regional tournament.

Mt. Vernon will play 8 p.m. tonight in the championship game.

Trevor Schubert finished with a single and two doubles for Cartec, while Trace Carello added three singles. Ryan Campbell singled and doubled in the win, as Sam Storment and Blake McPherson both finished with two singles apiece.

Logan Ganieany added a double for Mt. Vernon, while Blake Jones and Reed Millwood each finished with a single.

Cartec improved to 25-5 with the win.
