Lady Rams finish second in triangular meet

MT. VERNON – The Lady Rams track team placed second in a triangular meet with Effingham and Salem on Monday.

Effingham won the meet with 75 points. Mt. Vernon scored 51, and Salem finished with 30.

Mt. Vernon ended with six first places. Charde Golliday won three events. She was victorious in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, two inches. She was first in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.09 and won the 200 meters with a time of 27.55.

Zoe Mattingly won the 3,200 meters with a time of 13:57.88. Aaliyah Palmer was first in the discus with a throw of 103 feet, 3.5 inches. The 1,600 meter relay team of Ashley Paulson, Allie Skobel, Abbie Thompson and Golliday won with a time of 4:37.48.

The Lady Rams had four second-place finishes. They were: Palmer in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 6.5 inches. The 3,200 meter relay team of Ashley Paulson, Camilla Bauer, Allie Skobel and Abbie Thompson in a time of 11:02.72. Thompson in the 800 meters with a time of 2:42.39, and Paulson in the 300 hurdles with a time of 55.08.

Mt. Vernon travels to the Annie Invitational on Friday.
