Webber’s baseball team won a pair of games against Chester on Saturday.
The Trojans took the opening game 6-5 and won 5-2 in the second matchup.
Austin Gowler delivered a two-out hit that scored a pair of runs to give Webber the lead late in the first game.
Ty Henderson relieved starter Logan Ganieany to get the win. Ganieany threw five and two thirds innings. He allowed just one hit. He finished with four strikeouts and two walks.
Henderson had two hits and three RBI at the plate.
Jordan Wheeler threw a complete game in the second matchup. He allowed five hits and one earned run. He finished with four strikeouts.
Ganieany had four hits, and Koaltin Dye finished with two hits. Gowler had a hit and two RBI. His hit pushed the Trojans into the lead.
Lane Moser, Wheeler and Henderson finished with a hit and RBI each.
Webber is 6-2 this season and is scheduled to travel to Woodlawn today.
Ram track repeats at Racer Relays
Mt. Vernon’s boys track team won for the second season at Murray State University’s Racer Relays.
The Rams scored 182 points. Marshall County was second with 143.
Mt. Vernon recorded nine first-place finishes. They were: the 3,200 meter relay team of Ethan Badger, Jake Wilson, Brykell Patton and Xavies Mooney in a time of 2:08.8; Daniel Flood in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:46.09; the 400 meter relay team of Drew Hester, Demontez Miller-Grey, Crayton Turner and Robert Grider in a time of 45.61 seconds; Steve Boss in the 400 meters with a time of 54.53 seconds; Brykell Patton in the 300 intermediate hurdles in a time of 42.2 seconds; Jordan Wilemon in the 800 meters in a time of 2:08.59; Grider in the 200 meters in a time of 23.01 seconds; Jake Wilson in the 2,000 meter Steeple Chase with a time of 7:17; the 1,600 meter relay team of Miller-Grey, Turner, Badger and Boss in a time of 3:38.67.
Second-place finishers were: the 800 meter relay team of Turner, Miller-Grey, Devarr Davis and Boss in a time of 1:35.9; Wilemon in the 1,600 meters in a time of 4:47.46;
Dylan Reeves in the 400 meters in a time of 57.35 seconds and Badger in the 800 meters with a time of 2:09.81.
