JCSA to hold baseball, softball evaluations

JCSA league evaluations Saturday

JCSA will hold league evaluations Saturday for boys and girls playing JCSA baseball or softball this summer.

Boys evaluations will be at Strothman Park. Times are by age: 9 at 10 a.m., 10 at 11:30 a.m., 11 at 11 a.m., 12 at 12:30 p.m., 7 at 1 p.m., 8 and 13/14 at 2:30 p.m.

Girls evaluations are by current grade and will be held at Lincoln/Cusumano Park. Times are: first/second grade at 9 a.m., third/fourth/fifth grade pitchers and catchers should report at 10:30 a.m., all other third/fourth/fifth graders report at 11 a.m. Sixth/seventh/eighth grade pitchers and catchers report at 11:30 a.m., all other sixth/seventh/eighth graders will begin at noon.

Walk-in registrations will be accepted with payment.

    With the resignation of Mt. Vernon boys basketball coach Scott Gamber becoming official at Monday's school board meeting, Mt. Vernon will look to move quickly to fill the position with summer workouts approaching. MVTHS principal Wes Olson said Tuesday the school will try to have a candidate at the May board meeting.
