Rams run to Jackson Invite title

Rams run to Jackson Invite title

Mt. Vernon’s boys track team traveled to Missouri on Saturday and won the Jackson Invitational.

The Rams topped the 20-team field with 107.5 points. Sikeston placed second with 94.3.

Mt. Vernon won three events. Karson Hahn was first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.39. Jordan Wilemon was victorious in the 3,200 meters in a time of 10:37.31. The 1,600 meter relay team of Demontez Miller, Hahn, Brykell Patton and Steve Boss won in a time of 3:33.

Second-place finishers were: Patton in the 110 high hurdles in a time of 15.47 and the 300 intermediate hurdles in a time of 42.45; the 800 meter relay team of Boss, Crayton Turner, Miller and Robert Grider in a time of 1:34.57 and David Modert in the 1,600 meters in a time of 4:38.34 and the 800 meters in a time of 2:02.83.

Third-place finishers were: Hahn in the 1,600 meters in a time of 4:38.98 and Joseph McDaniel in a pole vault with a leap of 13 feet. The 3,200 meter relay team of Ethan Badger, Jake Wilson, Xavies Mooney and Wilemon placed fourth in a time of 8:38.47.

Fifth-place finishers were: Drew Hester in the 110 high hurdles in a time of 25.01 and Grider in the 100 meters in a time of 11.29. Hester finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, one inch. Nic Meyer was eighth in the shot put with a throw of 44 feet.

Mt. Vernon competes at Herrin on Tuesday.
