Sprinkle, Bolerjack lead Lady Rams golf squad

MT. VERNON —

The Lady Rams golf team will turn to the experience of its veteran players as a new season begins this fall.

Chelsea Sprinkle returns as a senior, and Rachel Bolerjack is back as a junior. Mt. Vernon coach Amber Tieffel said both Sprinkle and Bolerjack worked hard to improve their skills in the summer.

(Sprinkle) has worked really hard this summer and did great in the local tournaments she played in,” Tieffel said. “She is excited to start her senior year and would really like to play golf after high school.

(Bolerjack) has worked really hard this summer and did great in the summer tournaments she played in as well.”

The Lady Rams also have a trio of sophomores – Colleen Ashby, Alexandria Pigg and Paeytn Hayes - back to the team. Lydia King joins the group as a freshman.

I have an energetic and great group of girls who are excited about the upcoming season,” Tieffel said. “Our goal is to work hard and make it out of regionals as a team this year.”

Mt. Vernon has already competed in the South Seven Preview match held in Centralia. The Lady Rams placed second overall. Mt. Vernon continues play today when they host Carbondale and Althoff at Green Hills Golf Club.

Last season Mt. Vernon placed eighth at the O'Fallon regional with a score of 427.
