Lady Ramsfall to East

Mt. Vernon’s softball team traveled to Belleville East and lost 4-2 Monday.

Haley Chelf started the game and threw three innings total. Chelf allowed two earned runs and finished with two strikeouts. Kelby Kujawa was the losing pitcher and threw three innings. She allowed two earned runs and a walk.

Hannah Wright had two hits for Mt. Vernon. Summer Hobson added a hit and an RBI. Page Clinton finished with a hit and run scored.

Both Mt. Vernon runs came in the fourth inning, and the Lady Rams finished with four hits overall.

Mt. Vernon is 9-13 overall this season and hosts Effingham today. Belleville East improved to 25-4.

Belleville Westblanks Mt. Vernon

Mt. Vernon’s baseball team lost 1-0 Monday at Belleville West.

Brock Fulkerson was the losing pitcher for the Rams. The junior pitcher threw a complete game.

The Rams offense generated two hits in the matchup from Landon Thomas and Trevor Flota.

Mt. Vernon is 24-7-1 this season and travels to Edwardsville today.

Nashville knocks off Woodlawn

Woodlawn’s baseball team lost 13-3 to Nashville on Monday.

Garrett Minks was the losing pitcher.

Derek Kehrer and Tanner Hill both had a hit and RBI each.

Jayson Hapeman and Logan Isaac both had a hit each.

Rams tennis finishes fourth in South Seven

Mt. Vernon’s boys tennis team was fourth at the South Seven tournament on Saturday.

Aaron Neibert was named first team all-conference. Nathan Arnold was selected second team, and Aaron Burge received honorable mention.

Burge was third in No. 3 singles. Neibert, Arnold and Nabors were all fourth in singles action.

Jared Hatton and Cody Wilson teamed together for a fourth-place finish in No. 1 doubles. Billy Fields and Jordan Clarke were fifth in No. 2 doubles.
