Lady Rams bowling team qualifies for state final

MT. VERNON — The Lady Rams bowling team advanced to the state final after a second-place finish at Saturday’s sectional.

Salem won the team title with a score of 5,453. The Lady Rams finished with a 5,260, and Belleville East ended third with 5,183.

“I’ve got a good group of girls. They’re very talented,” Mt. Vernon coach Susan Gentry said. “We were all thrilled, even with second because you still get to go to state.”

Makayla Emshoff was the top Mt. Vernon bowler with a score of 1,115. Other scores for the Lady Rams were: Olivia Rios 1,058, Taylor Allen 1,051, Alyssa Dudley 1,026 and Brooke Phillips 1,010.
