Edwardsville blanks Mt. Vernon in girls soccer

EDWARDSVILLE — Mt. Vernon’s girls soccer team lost 8-0 against Edwardsville in the Metro East Cup on Monday night.

Edwardsville scored four goals in each half against the Mt. Vernon defense. Mt. Vernon coach Jeff Harrison said his team was able to create some offensive chances late in the game. Sydney Crews challenged the Edwardsville goalie with a shot in the second half.

Mt. Vernon is 0-1 this season and plays at 5 p.m. Wednesday against Waterloo.
