    Crete Illinois Lutheran scored the opening seven runs on its way to a 12-2 victory over the Trojans in six innings. The Chargers seized a big early cushion with seven combined runs in the second and third innings.

    The way the day's 1A state semifinal game against New Athens was going, it looked like he might throw about that many innings.

    I think my adrenalin was what kept me going,” Wheeler said.

    Wheeler hurled a complete game, and Webber won 5-4 in 10 innings.
