CHICAGO (AP) — The University of Illinois at Chicago's School of Public Health is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
The school plans a gala on Saturday at The Field Museum. The university says it's the only accredited public health school in the state. It opened in 1972 with 22 faculty members and 18 students who studied under one degree program. Now it has more than 600 students, 100 faculty members and dozens of degree and certificate programs. There are 4,000 alumni.
UIC School of Public Health dean Paul Brandt-Rauf says the school needs to continue to partner with community members to make sure it contributes to real solutions.
