BELLEVILLE (AP) — Authorities have filed first-degree murder charges against a 53-year-old man suspected in a 1995 southwestern Illinois stabbing death.
Investigators in St. Clair County went to George Bricking's Cahokia workplace on Thursday and arrested the Belleville man. He is accused in the death of 35-year-old Christine Foster of Collinsville.
A man walking his dog near Belleville found Foster's partly clothed body in a ditch in May 1995.
Foster was last seen outside a Belleville tavern, where a fight had broken out. Police say Bricking later told him that Foster asked him for a ride home on his motorcycle.
Bricking was arrested at the time but was eventually released after a grand jury twice declined to indict him.
Online court records don't show whether Bricking has an attorney.
