Drug sweeps nets 10 arrests

MT. VERNON — —

Members of the Joint Narcotics Division of the Mt. Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested 10 people Wednesday on various drug-related charges. More arrests were pending.

A total of 25 persons were being sought on drug-related charges following eight months of ongoing investigations.

Those arrested, and the charges, include:

During the arrests of Hamson and Houston at their residence, items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were observed in plain view and Narcotics Division detectives requested and received a search warrant to further the investigation.

Additional charges are expected to be lodged against Hamson and Houston as a result of the finding.

The warrants were issued by the state's attorney's office and were signed by Judge Jo Beth Weber.
