Kiwanis Club draws large crowd for fundraiser

A large crowd attended the 63rd annual Mt. Vernon Kiwanis Club Pancake & Sausage Breakfast at the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building on Saturday.

The fundraiser is the largest of the year for the club with proceeds going to finance several community projects, including the annual Kiwanis Fun Day at Rend Lake and the Christmas party held in Benton for physically handicapped individuals.

John Schrum is president of the local club.

Members of the Beta Club and the high school FFA organization helped the club by serving and cleaning up. They also assisted with carryouts.
