MT. VERNON — — Zack Spencer, left, and David Spencer, right, with Spencer Specialty Coatings, complete sealing work on the roof of the covered walkway at Rome Grade School in Dix. Spencer Specialty Coatings is a subcontractor for Winkler Constructors on this project. The roof replacement is one of two major improvements the school district has planned this summer. The other project, installing a new awning over the pre-k entrance, has already been completed. Together, the two projects cost a total of $6,028. A state grant will cover half of the cost.
