Jefferson County State's Attorney Doug Hoffman filed murder charges today in connection with Tuesday's stabbing incident at the Mt. Vernon Gun and Sportsman's Club.
Sammy R. Kehrer, 47, of Mt. Vernon, was formally charged with three counts of first-degree murder. The state's attorney alleges that Kehrer stabbed 37-year-old Eric Houser in the chest with a knife, causing his death.
Kehrer is expected to be in video court on Friday to formally be advised of the charges and his constitutional rights. Kehrer is in the Jefferson County Justice Center under $3 million bond.
If convicted, Kehrer could be sentenced to 20 to 60 years on each count of murder.
Kehrer was arrested late Tuesday night at his home, following the stabbing incident which took place shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday outside the Sportsman's Club.
