November proclaimed Adoption Month

MT. VERNON — — Mt. Vernon Mayor Mary Jane Chesley got a little help Thursday morning in signing a proclamation for Adoption Month.

A group of adoption specialists, birth mothers, adoptive parents and children gathered at City Hall for the proclamation signing. In the proclamation, Chesley encourages citizens, community agencies, religious organizations, businesses and others to celebrate adoption, honor families that grow through adoption, further an awareness of the changes and issues in adoption and focus attention on those children who live in the shadow of an uncertain future while they await permanent families.
