Honoring police

MT. VERNON — — Mt. Vernon Mayor Mary Jane Chesley presents Mt. Vernon Assistant Chief Chris Deichman with a proclamation naming the week of May 11 as Police Week in the city. The week coincides with National Police Week and May 15, Police Memorial Day, which is to honor police who have fallen in the line of duty. "The city of Mt. Vernon wishes to honor the valor, service and dedication of its own police officers," Chesley said during the presentation, and urged citizens to honor and show sincere appreciation for the police officers of the city.
