Arbor Day celebration held

MT. VERNON — — Several activities were made available on Saturday during the annual Arbor Day celebration sponsored by the Mt. Vernon Parks & Recreation Department. Participants learned what it is like to be in a harness, learn how to climb trees, and a petting zoo was available. A tree giveaway station was provided by Ameren, and Girl Scouts provided small seedlings for planting. City officials were recently informed they have been chosen to receive another Tree City USA award.
