IDOT closes roadway

MT. VERNON — —

MT. VERNON — — Illinois Department of Transportation officials have closed Sparrow Lane, off Illinois 15, due to high water.

Sparrow Lane is on the west side of Mt. Vernon, near R.P. Lumber.

The area has received significant rainfall in the past 24 hours. There have been unconfirmed reports of up to 4 inches of rain that has fallen in some areas of the city.
