Out with the old, in with the new

MT. VERNON — —

The former Mt. Vernon City Pool demolition has brought the facility, located at Veterans Park, down to the ground, while work is ramping up on the new Aquatic Zoo, located on South 34th Street. The old pool was not opened this year in anticipation of the aquatic center opening, which is on track for Memorial Day weekend 2014. The Aquatic Zoo construction is ongoing, with crews installing the water slide and concrete work on decks for the lazy river feature. The Aquatic Zoo is on schedule to be substantially completed by Aug. 6.
