Maneuvers underway

MT. VERNON — — The Illinois Army National Guard and the Illinois Air National Guard are holding airlift maneuvers today at Mt. Vernon Outland Airport.

The maneuvers started at 8 a.m. Friday morning and will take place through the afternoon. Guardsmen are assembliing in and around the Community Hangar and once the C130 transports land, are loaded. 

This is the second year Mt. Vernon Outland Airport has hosted the event. Security is tight, and no one is allowed on the flightline without credentials issued by the airport office. Viewing areas have been established in the airline patio and Wilkey's fenced in area.
